H&R Lowering Springs- Now Available in Gold… No, I’m Serious

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Seriously, H&R Springs is now offering its springs with a 24K Gold Plating.  Why? I dont know, heres the info courtesy of Sport Compact Car Magazine..

“When you have too much money…

The bling-tastic crew down with it at H&R Springs is now pimpin’ 24-carat style.  While that senctence exhausts our vocabulary of urban slang, it does nothing to diminish the shock of discovering that H&R is now offering it’s products in 24-carat gold.

H&R explains these springs combinge “the typical H&R attributes of sporty handling, optimized active safety, and highest quality with extravagant looks.”  If the car is built right and is riding right, in most cases these springs will be barely visible through the wheels.  It will impress the shop guy when you order new shocks, but come on.  Count us among the unsuprised that the first set of these silly gilded springs are mounted on a Ferrari F430 Spider owned by someone in Dubai.

The gold option is available on any set of H&R springs with a premium of around $2500 beyond the price of the same springs with less gaudy coatings”

Project Subaru Sti Underway….

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Alright, well, it’s not a complete build of the 04 Subaru WRX STi, its more of a lets add higer quality parts, tune the car properly, and put a nice body-kit on the car.  The car was originally built in eastern KY for Fuzion Tire to make their debut at SEMA in 04.  Now, they want to re-vamp some stuff to modernize the car with up to date parts, and they have charged us with the task.  Its going to be a fairly simple build and as much as we’d like to, we are not allowed to change the paint scheme.

Right now the car features a Turbo XS FMIC and Turbo-Back Exhaust system, Chargespeed Lip Kit, and Gauges and seats from Ractive.  One feature about the car we would really like to see function properly is the Praxis Suspension system.  Unfortuneately, the system was never made for this car but was modified (read- “hacked”) to work on the STi.  The System has so many gremlins and fitment issues we have chosen to replace the entire air system with a set of coilovers. By doing this the car will not only have the proper suspension under the car, it will clear up some room in the trunk for a mild stereo and some other goodies we are going to be installing.

Other aspects of the build include a new Chargespeed Body Kit, not the lip kit, Sparco Racing Seats, Sparco Harness’, Tein Coilovers, HPD wheels, Stoptech Brake Upgrade, and a good dyno tune. We are also removing the Ractive gauges and replacing them with Defi Gauges to properly monitor the cars performance.  Basically, we are taking out all of the out-dated, dare i say, lower quality parts, and replacing them with good stuff.  This isn’t a huge project, but it’s big enough that with the short amount of time we have to do it, it will keep us busy.

Here are a few pictures of the car before we got it and ill post pics of the car after were are done with it and all the changes.  I think you will be pleasantly suprised.

ARC G35 Strut Bars… Finally came in…Then left again

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

So, ARC released a set of Titanium Strut Bars for the Infiniti G35 last week.  The only problem was, they sent the press release out in Feb saying they would be available early March.  To make a long story short, i quickly sold 2 of them and when March rolled around, they still weren’t available.  They were on the dreaded “backorder”….  More about backorders another time.

Anyways, now here it is, Aug 3rd, and the bars just shipped to my customers yesterday.  I hate backorders, really i do.  Thanks to the extreme patience of my customers while waiting for them, they will soon have the first 2 in the country on their G coupes.

Anyways, just wanted to rant a bit.

Thanks

Tein’s Honda Civic Si- Stolen!!!

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

This is a direct quote from News 8 out of San diego California about Tein’s Show Civic being stolen yesterday.

Teins honda civic

“A one-of-a-kind ‘tuner’ car was stolen from Chula Vista this weekend. The car is worth tens of thousands of dollars. Its appearance is unique and unmistakable, and police are asking for the public’s help to track this car down.

Chula Vista police say it must have been a fast and furious heist, committed by thieves who stole a 2006 Honda tuner car worth somewhere between $50,000 and $150,000. Experts familiar with the car say it is definitely a one-of-a-kind street machine.

“This took some planning, this took somebody with some knowledge of what they were going to find inside,” said Bernard Gonzales of the Chula Vista Police Department. “It took some knowledge as to what you’re going to do with the car once you get it… you obviously couldn’t just drive it down the street, it would have been highly noticeable.”

The tricked-out car, which was between shows, was kept inside a trailer parked at a business on Boswell Road. Authorities believe those responsible broke into the storage facility sometime between Saturday night and Sunday night.

“It’s an interesting case,” Gonzales said. “Unfortunately, somebody has to lose an expensive vehicle because somebody decides they’re going to commit this crime, but for our part we just continue following the leads. Hopefully, those leads will take us to the vehicle.”

The vehicle has all the bells and whistles you would expect for a tuner car, including a high performance engine, a custom exhaust unit, reinforced brakes and a killer sound system.

Its radical exterior has modified front bumpers, side skirts and a rear spoiler wing. Investigators are hoping tips from the public and good old-fashioned police work will solve this case.

“Even though this is a well planned situation apparently, they did leave some clues behind and our forensics people are taking those items and analyzing them,” Gonzales said.

Investigators say it’s possible the vehicle may have been taken across the border and perhaps being dismantled.”

Volk Wheels- Whats the deal?

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

I have customers ask me everyday about Volk Wheels and why they should spend the extra money on Volk, when they can get a simialr looking wheel for less.  I want to take a minute and explain my thoughts on the matter.

People will always argue about wheel weight and its affect on a vehicles performance.  I believe it’s just one of the many factors you should consider when starting a new project build.  There are many companies out there that manufacture lightweight wheels, but seldom can any company combine lightweight, strength, and style the way that Volk does.
A little about Volk Racing Wheels and their dedication to performance in the sport compact world.
Volk is a product of RAYS Wheels based in Japan and distributed in the states by Mackin Industries.  Volk wheels are designed with performance in mind and can take anywhere from 2 t 6 months to be design before going to production.  The style of the wheel is not finalized until after the wheel’s purpose has been decided.  Do they focus more on wheel weight, wheel strength, or both?  In most case the answer is both.  Volk Racing Wheels are made to withstand the harshest track conditions as well as your everyday city street by using the highest grades or magnesium and aluminum.  The use of higher quality materials adds to the cost, but when you buy a true racing wheel such as Volk, you’re buying top of the line.  Look at the wheels used on JGTC and Drift cars, all Volk, look at the wheels on the cars that consistently win top honors at national shows, once again, all Volk.  If you want a wheel that looks as good as it performs and sets your car apart from the crowd, a Volk Racing Wheel is what you need.
