Factory tuned: Nismo Fairlady Z Type-380RS

While those of us in the States must make due with either a modest revamp or an aero-enhanced version of the 350Z, the Japanese will be able to get their hands on a what is arguably the most desirable Z-car yet - courtesy of NISMO.

The Fairlady Z Type 380RS-Competition gets its new numerical nomenclature from increasing the displacement of the stock 3.5-liter V6 to 3.8-liters, boosting power to 350 HP and 293 lb.-ft. of torque. The increased oomph will likely be sent through a six-speed manual gearbox, with what we’d assume is a beefed up clutch to handle the extra horses.

Anyone see a trend here???

Seriously, what is it about this color?  For the last few weeks, this has been the sight in my warehouse, except they are all normally parked by each other. I just finally got around to taking the pics today.

Nissan 350Z GT-S is coming to the States

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

nissan350z

When a few rogue Nissan engineers in Britain decided to mount a supercharger onto the 350Z and debut it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, we knew it was trick, but we also assumed it would never find its way to production. We stand corrected.

AutoExpress’ sources inside Nissan have confirmed that the 350Z GT-S will be produced and be priced at £36,000, thats almost 67,000 in US Dollars.

The GT-S version will come equipped with the aforementioned supercharger, complete with dash-mounted toggle switch that will allow the driver to ‘turn-off’ the supercharger and return the 3.5-liter V6 back to its normal output (for a reason that totally escapes us). The version that debuted at Goodwood was producing 382 HP and 313 ft.-lbs. of torque and was able to leave naught and arrive at 60 in 4.8 seconds. Beyond the power figures and the information we knew before (linked below) it is unclear as to what other features will make it on this limited edition coupe. We can only hope that the bodywork and butterfly valve-equipped exhaust are included on the invoice.

Since the original purpose of the endeavor was to make a meaner, yet streetable version of the Z, in hindsight, it seems only natural that it would find its way onto the streets. However, the tarmac the GT-S will grace are across the pond, so once again we’re elated for a few moments, then pissed for the rest of the day.

After almost 2 years of build time, multiple changes, way too many shows, and emtpy wallets, the Injected Performance / 350Z Forums car is done.  Well, done as a show car.  We may make some changes and bring it out next year for some more fun, but more on that later.  Here are the pics-

Project Nissan 350Z- Putting the power to the ground

Friday, June 16th, 2006

If you read the last installment about our Nissan 350Z we just completed, you probalby wanted to know more about what we didi to get 700+ horsepower to the ground. Not being one to disappoint, here it goes.  To make sure all this power makes it to the ground; we opted to install a Cusco 2-Way LSD, Cusco Zero-2 Coilovers, rear camber correction kit, and upgraded sway bars.  Behind RO_JA 19×9.5 and 19×10.5 RS-2 wheels and Dunlop Sport Maxx Tires is a Stoptech 14” 4 Piston Front and Rear Big Brake kit to make sure the car will stop in the shortest amount of time.

    More to come-

Nissan 350Z project is done!!

Friday, June 16th, 2006

After a full year of design, fabrication, implementation, and doing it all over again the Injected Performance 4.3L 350z is finally finished.  Boasting an AEBS 4.3L stroked VG35 motor with 8.5:1 pistons, Pauter Rods, custom cut headgaskets, ½ head studs, Ferrea Valve Train, and a GT42 custom single turbo kit, the “430Z” has laid down 767rwhp at a low 23psi.  Remember, the GT42 is not in its efficiency range until 25-35psi.  40psi dyno pulls are on their way.  To complement the single turbo kit and custom intercooler is Adel Wiggins connectors making sure all the piping does not come off.  Other upgrades include our billet twin pump designed fuel hanger, custom -08 fuel rails with 1600cc injectors, and Nitrous Express single fogger system and NTercooler Sprayer.  To control all the engine, fuel, timing parameters is our plug and play Magnetti Marreli ECU.  This is the same engine management used in Formula 1 and Kart race teams.  We have been able to control drive-by-wire as well as Variable Cam Control with this engine management.  Simple alterations to the Cam Control netted 60rwhp at low boost!

More to come later…
