Stoptech Brake Upgrades - Best value braking performance available!!!

Friday, November 17th, 2006

My Denali needed new brakes so i got to looking around for the parts i needed and the whole time i was wishing Stoptech made one of their Stage 2 Upgrade Kits for my truck.  Seriously, these kits are great.  They come with slotted rotors, Street Performance Pads, Stainless Steel Brake Lines, and a few bottles of Motul RBF600 Brake Fluid. This may not sound like that big of a deal to some, but price all that seperately and then price an Upgrade Kit, it seriously saves you some money, and its from Stoptech, so you know its high quality.

Each kit is designed to replace all four corners of your car.  By adding slotted or drilled rotors, you will prevent glazing of your brake pads, which will improve wet and dry braking performance.  StopTech’s SportStop Rotors include a protective black coating on the hub to prevent corrosion.  Stainless Steel Brake Lines increase pedal feel and reduce the time between pedal pressure and deceleration caused by brake engagement.  The stock rubber lines, flex during braking causing loss of performance as the steel lines stay intact.  Additionally, the Motul RBF600 increases the boiling point of your brake fluid ensuring a higher standard in brake performance.

Carbon Fiber, It’s still hot..

Friday, November 17th, 2006

I like carbon fiber as much as the next guy, but if you had asked me a year ago if I thought it would still be popular in 12 months, I would have told you “No”.  I thought it was a quick fad, some stylish addition to a car that has real purpose on a street car, except for looks.  I was wrong.  It seems there is no end in sight as to where the carbon fiber market is going.  Carbon Fiber Hoods, Trunk Lids, Fenders, and even Carbon Fiber Doors are only growing in popularity.  More and more manufacturers are jumping on board and offering almost any imaginable piece in carbon fiber.  Exterior, interior, under the hood, or in your trunk, any stationary part on your car can be made from carbon fiber.

Unfortunately, thanks to the airline industry, carbon fiber material has been hard to come by, thus skyrocketing prices and lowering production of parts in high demand.  It sucks for auto enthusiasts, but, not to fear, the end may be in sight.  Rumors have it that manufacturers of carbon fiber materials have been upping production for several months now and we should see prices start to drop very soon.

With that said, i’m looking forward to seeing what happens in ‘07 with it.  I think we are going to see more c/f wheels and roof skins being made and probably even see more replacement body panels.

Any thoughts?
