19″ Volk Wheels on a Acura TL with no rubbing-

Friday, December 29th, 2006

My boys at Mackin Industries- the US Volk Wheel distributor just sent me pics of a set of 19X8.5″ Volk Progressive TEs  on a Acura TL.  The car is lowered on Tein Coilovers and runs a  235/35/19 tire with no rubbing. So, for you Acura owners out there that thought it was going to be hard to run big wheels, think again, Volk has a solution for you.

Performance Parts Zone’s year in review..

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

So, lets take a look back on what happened this year.

We started this blog back in May and have seen a sharp increase in daily readers ever since then, for those reading, thank you so much.  I started posting and wondering if anyone would read my ramblings and if you look around, theres some good stuff if i do say so myself.  We’ve got some comprehensive detailing guides, sponsorship advice, off the wall auto news, bad ass cars, and the occasional “Look what were up to at Injected Performance” post.  Anyways, i can’t thank you enough for reading.

2006 was an interesting year in both show cars and race cars, and quality of both increased dramatically this year.  Show cars got cleaner and race cars got faster.  8 sec turbo cars were the norm and 10 sec NA cars were common as well. On the show side of things, carbon fiber was king.  Audio/visual was a close second, but i see the crazy systems and 53243430498 screens in one cars going away in 07.  There was a lot more focus on JDM this year than i had seen before and i think that is going to be king of 07.  Less bling, more clean.  So many manufacturers came out with so much good stuff this year it was tough to decide what parts to get. Specialty companies were also a lot more prevelant this year than in years past with the trend towards niche markets taking a firm grasp on the industry.

Thats my condensed version of what went on this year, and ill probably write more later, but for now, lets hear your thoughts on 06.

Sponsorships, get your letters ready.

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Some time back I wrote about what sponsorships are, the different levels of sponsorship, and how to go about getting them. You can find that article here- Sponsorship Truths.

Anyways, I wanted to remind everyone that the new year is almost here, which means you have to get your proposals together and get them out the door. The beginning of the year is when manufacturers make most of their sponsorship decisions, get yours in early, be sure yours is complete, and send lots of them out.  If your not sponsored yet, you may send out 100 proposals and only recieve 2 replies, dont get frustrated, just keep sending them.

For a last minute tip regarding what they want to hear, listen up.  The point of them giving you free or discounted performance parts, is to get their company name more exposure.  Make sure you can provide them with exposure.  Not only at shows and races, but online as well. For instance, if i post up your car here and list your sponsors, over 10k people will see it the first day its up.  Mention stuff like that, they want their name to be seen, make sure you can deliver and you will get the deals.

Its the weekend- Good time to install your performance parts.

And if you dont have any to install, i just want to remind you all to check out Injected Performance. They are currently running some crazy Holiday specials that will be ending soon.

Ill be stuck in the office tomorrow, so while most of you all enjoy your day off, ill be here and im going to try and think of some good posts to make while im adding product to our other sites.

Have fun this weekend and be safe
